A Letter to Me

Are you from ten years ago? You’re so young. You’ve grown up, you’ve learned to do so many things you’d never thought you’d be doing on your own. But still, you are young; compared to the people around you. Still, there is much to learn. You won’t believe me when I say this, but you changed.

Everyday, every hour, every minute, you are different than the last. Deceiving words no longer leave your mouth, but your mind is still the same hurricane. Deceitful actions no longer in your hands, but your instincts are no better. You are not the best person on earth, but you are not the worst either.

You are somewhere in between, realising yet not doing, good but bad—you are you. Some people broke you, and you still cry yourself to sleep most nights, sometimes over your own mistakes, sometimes while angry at yourself. Sometimes all of it is just your fault. No one else’s.

But you will learn, and you will strive, even if you are still wishing for death every second of the day. You know you don’t mean it. I know you want to give back to your family, even though you are tired of them. You love them. You deserve a chance. Even if you’re not happy. Make them happy. That’s all that matters, in this dark world you call your life when all you have to do is tie up the curtains and make the forest enchanted again.

Make yourself happy. Nobody truly cares about you.

But I do. And I love you.
